Attack On Titan (Season 1)

Some of the characters of Attack on Titan.

I really enjoy shows that progress quickly. No fillers, no unnecessary details and no time wasted. This is the case with Attack on Titan, a recent anime about humanity struggling to survive as they are threatened by giants called titans. The plot follows three childhood friends who witness these giants and a series of traumatizing events first hand, leading them to join the army in hopes of trying to fight off the titans. Since the release of this anime, the manga and the series itself has gained a tremendous boost in popularity.

When it comes to the animation and graphics, they’re really unusual in a good way. The visuals are very detailed, nicely created and very glossy. Not a single thing was bland. In fact, I found it really thrilling to see an anime look so clean and gorgeous. Every character was well done and even the titans have their unique aspects. It’s really obvious that the artists who were involved put in a lot of time and effort into this. In the end, the final product is beautiful.

Eren runs to attack the Colossal Titan, one of the main antagonists of the series.

The plot was very quick but very progressive. As I’ve stated before, there were no fillers and even the fight scenes were equally balanced with the dialogue and the plot. To top it off, there were many plot twists that kept the show fresh. There were a wide range of characters and that also made the show fun to watch. It quickly moved from place to place and within the 24 minutes that an episode offers, there are many events that are smoothly connected from the attack on the city to the journey that the main protagonists, Eren, Mikasa and Armin face.

One of my favorite aspects of the show is that emotions are portrayed really well. There are no true heroes in the show and the show does a good job of showing that. Through the situations that the characters face when they see humankind become destroyed, when they see that lives are being lost and even when the people lose themselves. it really goes to show that anyone is vulnerable to these things.

Overall, if you haven’t caught up with this anime, now’s the time to do so. The idea that humans aren’t at the top of the food chain anymore is an interesting concept. They only have 25 episodes out and while the manga is being worked on, the anime will definitely continue as well.

Overall: It’s awesome and you should watch it.
